About Steve K’s “Free” stuff
Welcome to my little corner! My name is Steve and I’m a 30-something family guy. I’ve been an IT pro for going on 15 years now.
I have found lately that I’ve gravitated mostly towards neat free things that provide useful functionality or otherwise can replace paid-for commercial items. This holds true both in my personal life and work. I manage the IT division of a small company with very limited resources. Yet the resource requirements rival that of considerably larger IT shops. Therefore, I’ve gotten pretty good at stretching what little cash I can grovel out of the powers that be. We are a Windows shop with a lot of VMWare and some OS X and Linux thrown in for good measure.
On the consumer front I’m a big fan of TiVO, and with the proper persuasion, it can be a pretty decent media center. I’m also a fan (though not a fanboi) of Apple products as well.
So I intend to share little nuggets here and there about what I find that I think may be useful. I do not intend to be the be all end all of free stuff (that’s what Fat Wallet’s for). Nor do I have any sort of oddball leftist free software moral code going. Quite simply as I’ve moved through life I’ve found I can be quite a cheapskate in a lot of instances.
Anything that ends up here will all be stuff I like, I will to the best of my knowledge not be discussing anything related to piracy. Of course I could possibly find things that are not totally free, or just post random crap because I can, and nobody will really see this anyway
